Wind energy – a sustainable power solution or a blight on the landscape?

by Benny on April 19, 2010

So the debate over wind energy continues to rage on. Generally, people are divided into two camps when it comes to the question of wind farms: those who see them as playing a vital role in future power generation plans as the supplies of fossil fuels grow increasingly scarce, and those who believe that wind farms rob the landscape of its natural beauty and so should not be built.

Personally, I’m a big fan of wind farms. We have to face up to the reality that fossil fuels won’t last for ever – that is a simple fact that is not going to change. So we have to find new ways of generating power that don’t use up natural resources. Wind power is an effective way of doing this.

Also, I quite like the look of wind farms. They really are stunning feats of engineering that, in my opinion at least, actually complement the landscape.
